CM Balochistan Emphasizes on Early Completion of 100 Small Dams

Quetta: According to a news report published on September 7, the Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan, Mr. Ali Mardan Khan Domki, emphasized the early completion of 100 small dams in the province. He briefed the media sources during his recent meeting.

The persistent water scarcity issue and the transformation of barren lands into fertile lands were discussed in the meeting. The meeting attendees include advisor to Chief Minister on Irrigation Mir Danish Langau, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary of Planning and Development, and Secretary of Finance.

Furthermore, in the meeting, the CM also got a comprehensive briefing from Secretary Irrigation Hafiz Abdul Majid on the progress of dam construction across the province, the remodeling of the Pat Feeder Canal, and the expansion of the Kachhi project. Also, the expansion of the Kachhi project and the Feeder Canal are expected to transform almost 800,000 acres of barren land into fertile land. So, it will also help the local farmers produce several crops from their lands.

Moreover, the Chief Minister highlighted the need to increase the water storage capacity. He also emphasized the importance of preserving water resources to rely less on groundwater for agricultural purposes.

Furthermore, he informed the media about the provincial government’s commitment to enhancing the underground water levels and resolving water availability issues in Balochistan Province.
